University of Kentucky women's basketball player DeNesha Stallworth was named to the John R. Wooden Award Women's Pre-season Top 30 by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Wednesday. The list was chosen by a pre-season poll of national college women's basketball media members.

The list recognizes student-athletes who are early front-runners for the John R. Wooden Award, which is presented to both the nation's best male and female college player.

Stallworth was also one of 25 players named to the pre-season Wade Trophy watch list. The Wade Trophy is presented each year to the best women's basketball player.

Stallworth, a First Team All-SEC selection last year, is UK's leading returning scorer and second-leading rebounder. The senior forward has averaged 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds over her career.

■ The UK volleyball team fell to Georgia 3-2 in Athens on Wednesday. The Bulldogs (15-6, 5-4 Southeastern Conference) won the opening set before falling down 2-1. They won the fourth set after Kentucky recorded a match-high 12 errors. Georgia then edged out a dramatic 23-21 victory in a final set that saw 11 ties and six lead changes.

Sophomore Sarah Schwarzwalder had a career-high 14 kills for the Wildcats in the loss.

■ Sophomore goalkeeper Callum Irving saved a career-high seven shots to lead the Kentucky men's soccer team in a scoreless tie with Tulsa on Wednesday.
