Coming up: There are no stakes on the 10-race card Friday but the Grade II Hagyard Fayette Stakes highlights the closing-day slate of racing on Saturday.

Final furlong

■ Mill Ridge Farm's Keep Up wore down Utley in the final 100 yards to win the sixth race on Thursday's card, the featured $66,000 Man o' War Purse going 11⁄8 miles on the turf.

Trained by Alex Clarkson and ridden by Miguel Mena, Keep Up found room to the inside of Utley in the stretch and then shook clear to win by three-quarters of a length to complete the distance over a firm turf course in 1:50.88. The 6-year-old son of Unbridled's Song is out of 1998 Kentucky Oaks winner Keeper Hill and improved his record to seven wins from 17 starts with earnings of $299,382.

■ Gary and Mary West's Poker Player, winner of the Grade III Bourbon on Oct. 6 and pre-entered in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, worked 6 furlongs on a turf course labeled firm in 1:15.80 Thursday morning with jockey Channing Hill up.

Working on his own and well off the inner rail, Poker Player broke off at the 5½ -furlong pole and continued a sixteenth of a mile past the finish line in fractions of :13, :26.80, :39.60 and :53.40. He is scheduled to ship to Santa Anita on Sunday.
