Churchill Downs adds cocktail club to Downs After Dark

Before the running of this year's Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, Chris Morris, left, master distiller at Woodford Reserve, presented Anita Cauley with her $1,000 mint julep in a silver and gold cup. She buys one almost every year. "Complete strangers will come up to us and say, 'Where did you get that?' and have their picture taken with it," Cauley said.

Churchill Downs is adding Skye Lounge, a club for 300 customers ages 21 and older, to its Downs After Dark night racing evenings.

The lounge will debut Nov. 16, with the theme of "My Fall Derby Style," with different themed cocktails and hors d'oeurves every hour.

Tickets are $40 and include an indoor lounge environment; a fifth-floor, two-tiered balcony to view the races; cocktails featuring Southern Comfort, el Jimador and Finlandia Vodka; and entertainment by a DJ. Admission to the track and a racing program are included.

The Skye Lounge — on the fifth floor of the Skye Terrace, just past the Finish Line — also will have mutuel tellers, self-service wagering machines and multiple television monitors to watch.
