A physician who was involved in an injury collision while driving drunk in Lexington last year has been sentenced to prison.

Fayette Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone sentenced Dr. Briana Boyd on Thursday to six years in prison.

Boyd originally was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and driving under the influence stemming from the crash on Dec. 3, 2012.

Lexington police said Boyd was driving the wrong way on the outer loop of Man o' War Boulevard when her vehicle collided with a truck. Two people in the truck were injured; Boyd was unhurt.
