Jill Biden visited Churchill Downs on Sunday to attend the fourth annual Survivors Day at the Races, which recognized family members of military service members who have given their lives since Sept. 11, 2001.

The wife of Vice President Joe Biden watched the stretch run of the fourth race, which was named in honor of the family members.

"I am first and foremost a National Guard mom," Jill Biden said. "I am then the second lady."

The vice president's oldest son, Beau, is Delaware's attorney general and a member of the Army National Guard who served a yearlong deployment in Iraq.

More than 750 guests from Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and Illinois attended Sunday's event, sponsored by Churchill Downs, Humana Government Business and the Kentucky National Guard.
