Madison County: Jon Carloftis to headline Friends of EKU Libraries event Nov. 14

Award-winning garden designer and Kentucky native Jon Carloftis will headline the seventh annual Friends of Eastern Kentucky University Libraries program at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Keen Johnson Ballroom. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Walnut Hall of the Keen Johnson Building. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased by calling (859) 622-1072 by Monday.

The event includes a buffet dinner and the music of local cellist and EKU faculty member Nathan Jasinski. Carloftis' books and original birdhouse designs will be available for purchase and personalization after the event.

Carloftis, an authority on rooftop and small-space gardening, grew up on the banks of the Rockcastle River in south-central Kentucky. He owns Rockcastle River Trading Co., a home and garden store on his family's property in Livingston. The gardens surrounding the home have been featured in BMW Magazine, Country Home, Garden & Gun, Outdoor Rooms and Southern Living.
