Jessamine County: Soap Box Derby results; Jessamine leaders make trip to Murray

November 5, 2013

At the Nicholasville Soap Box Derby last month, Bradeyn Greene, left, placed first in the kit car division with a car sponsored by Jessamine County Magistrate George Dean.

A group from the Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce participated in a leaders' trip to Murray on Oct. 24 and 25. The annual event, now in its ninth year, targets mid-size towns similar in population to Nicholasville that are open to an exchange of ideas and hospitality. Murray was named America's friendliest small town by Rand McNally and USA Today in 2012.

Soap Box Derby winners named in 2 divisions

The Nicholasville Soap Box Derby was held Oct. 26 on York Street. Here are the results:

Kit car division: Bradeyn Greene, sponsored by George Dean, first; Caegan Brandenburg, sponsored by Brandenburg Auto Repair, second; Owen Crowder, in a car designed by his family as a tribute to R.J. Corman, third.

Homemade car division: Zale Brown, sponsored by Central Bank, first; Colton Cox, in his John Deere-themed car, second; Madison Curtsinger, in a car sponsored by Nicholasville NOW!, third.

Cox's John Deere car was named most creative, and Brandenburg's car was chosen as best-looking.
