A Nicholasville pedestrian died Wednesday night after she was struck in a hit-and-run accident, authorities said.

Linda Wilhoite, 50, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office. Wilhoite died of multiple blunt-force injuries, the news release said.

She was struck at Southview and Edgewood drives, and the vehicle then drove off, said officer Kevin Grimes, spokesman for the Nicholasville Police Department. Based on where debris was in the road, police said, the car apparently headed west on Edgewood Drive, Grimes said.

An autopsy was performed Thursday morning at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort.

Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville is in charge of arrangements.
