Best bets: ‘Nutcracker’ as only the Russians do it

Go for a run, then binge on turkey as a reward

Before you carve the turkey, why not take some time for a little cardio at The Thoroughbred Classic 5K at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at Keeneland Race Course, 4201 Versailles Road. Luminate Lexington on Friday, in and around Triangle Park, is the city’s official kick-off for the holiday season. The Unified Trust Company Ice Rink opens at 10 a.m. A Holiday Artists’ Market starts at 2 p.m. Holiday Live, featuring music by local performers, is at 2:30 . And at 6:30 , Mayor Jim Gr ay and Santa Claus will turn the key to illuminate lights on the tree at Triangle Park and all over downtown.
