Kentucky climbed from No. 4 to No. 3 in the new Associated Press men's college basketball poll released Monday.

The Wildcats advanced one spot after beating Texas-Arlington 105-76 in their only game last week. The Cats, who were ranked No. 1 in the pre-season before an early loss to Michigan State, return to the court Monday night against Cleveland State in Rupp Arena (7 p.m., Fox Sports South).

UK (4-1) claimed the spot vacated by Louisville after its 93-84 loss to North Carolina on Sunday. The Cardinals (5-1) dropped to No. 9 in the new poll. North Carolina vaulted from No. 24 to No. 16 this week.

Michigan State won three games last week and remains a runaway No. 1.

Kansas drew eight first-place votes and remains second. Arizona moved up one spot to fourth. Oklahoma State received the other No. 1 vote and jumped from seventh to fifth. Duke stayed at No. 6.
