Two people have been charged with murder for the death of a 2-year-old girl, said Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird.

Police arrested Trina White, 36, and her boyfriend Mark S. Hyden, 35, for the death of White's daughter, Madisyn Davis.

Bird said police received a call last week from the mother because the child was unresponsive and wasn't breathing. She was taken to a hospital in Tennessee, but efforts to revive Davis were unsuccessful.

The cause of the child's death was attributed to blunt force trauma. Bird said visible injuries could be seen on the child's face.

The case is still under investigation, but police hope to present the case to a Whitley County grand jury Monday.

White and Hayden are both being held on $500,000 bond.

They were both sent to the Whitley County Detention Center, but were moved. The child's birth father, Jason Davis is being held at the detention center. Police said White and Hayden were moved because of "safety reasons."
