Lex-Care: Two clients request assistance with rent

November 26, 2013

Cathy Sutphen at Russell Cave Family Resource Center worked with a client who was in need of $295 to pay the lot rent for her trailer. She received an eviction notice on Oct. 18. She works as a waitress and her husband has been out of the country for nine months. She is working to obtain a visa for his reentry. The applicant's brother has loaned her money for the past-due rent and associated charges, but now she needs to pay the rent for November to avoid being delinquent. Once the rent is paid, the woman anticipates her husband's return to the United States with a work visa so he will be able to support his family again.

Woman with disabled husband needs $500

Social worker Michele Jackson made a referral for her client to receive financial assistance of $500 to be paid toward her rent. The applicant recently had her wages garnished and her husband is disabled and has no income. The client works part time and needs one-time help to get back on her feet.
