House fire leaves Lexington woman hospitalized

A house fire Friday afternoon on Savoy Road left a Lexington woman hospitalized with smoke inhalation and other injuries, Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz said.

The woman, in her 60s, was rushed to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. Her identity was not given.

A dog died in the fire, Nantz said.

Fire crews received a call from a neighbor about the fire, Nantz said. Smoke was coming out the window and the front door. Firefighters had to cut the roof to release smoke.

Nantz said the front of the house suffered severe damage, but the house was not destroyed. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
