UK athletes honored for community service work

Three University of Kentucky athletes were honored Tuesday for their good works outside of their sports.

■ UK senior Jarrod Polson was nominated for the National Association of Basketball Coaches AllState Good Works Team.

■ UK senior Kastine Evans was nominated for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Allstate Good Works Team.

■ Senior volleyball player Jessi Greenberg was Kentucky's selection to the Southeastern Conference's Community Service Team.

The awards recognize select groups of student athletes who have made significant contributions to their communities through volunteerism and civic service.

Also nominated for the NABC award were Eastern Kentucky's Deverin Muff and Pikeville's Elisha Justice.

Also nominated for the WBCA award were Louisville's Jude Schimmel and Western Kentucky's Chaney Means.
