An Ohio woman whose boyfriend died Saturday was charged with wanton endangerment because her children were sleeping in the bedroom with him where drugs were found, police said.

Richmond police said they were called to the Dixie Plaza Mobile Home Park at 8:30 a.m. Saturday because of a call about an overdose. They found Kyle Willis, 24, on the floor. He was pronounced dead. Willis, of Franklin, Ohio, had taken several drugs overnight, police said in a news release.

His girlfriend Kristen Johnson, 22, also of Franklin, Ohio, was arrested.

Police said Johnson's sons, ages 4 and 6, were sleeping in a bedroom with Johnson and Willis. Police found "suspected crack cocaine in plain view on a bedside table," as well as "a glass pipe in Johnson's purse and a syringe with liquid residue in one of her boots."

In addition to first-degree wanton endangerment, Johnson was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also had a warrant for her arrest out of Boone County for failure to appear.

She was taken to the Madison County Detention Center, and state workers took Johnson's children into protective custody.
