A motorcyclist is in serious condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after a collision in Menifee County.

Kentucky State Police at Morehead said Lonnie Sparks, 54, of Campton was injured just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, when his Honda motorcycle collided with a Toyota Echo driven by James Driskell, 79, of Wellington.

The crash occurred on Ky. 36 in front of the Cornbread Cafè in Frenchburg.

Police said Sparks was traveling east on Ky. 36 when Driskell, who was heading west, turned left at the cafe in the path of Sparks' motorcycle. The collision sent Sparks flying through the air, and he landed in a ditch, troopers said.

Sparks was flown to UK, where he was listed in serious condition Thursday morning. Driskell was treated at the scene, police said.
