Notes from the Kentucky-Baylor game

December 7, 2013

From Jerry Tipton's blog:

• By beating Kentucky 67-62 Friday night/Saturday morning, Baylor joined an exclusive club.

Not counting traditional powers Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Louisville, Baylor became the fourth non-conference opponent to beat UK twice in a two-season span in the last 50 years. Baylor joins exclusive club

• Kentucky Coach John Calipari put a sink-or-swim label on his team’s 67-62 loss to Baylor Friday night. Either the Cats get tougher or they get out of the conversation about doing special things this season. Cal: UK must get tougher

• Rico Gathers, no lightweight at 6-foot-8 and 270 pounds, had a simple explanation for why Baylor won the rebounding battle 41-25 and beat Kentucky 67-62 Friday night/Saturday morning.

“We just out-’physicaled’ them,” he said. “We didn’t take no foots off the gas. We were just like kept pushing the whole night. They didn’t like it.” Baylor’s Rico Gathers: We ‘out-physicaled’ UK frosh

From John Clay's blog:
