Power restored after outage strikes more than 1,500 Lexington KU customers

More than 1,500 Kentucky Utilities customers around Leestown, Mercer and Harbison roads north of New Circle Road were temporarily without electricity Saturday night.

The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

The first outage was reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, and power was restored to most by 10:30 p.m., according to KU's online outage map.

The area included the Meadowthorpe neighborhood inside New Circle. Railroad crossing gates were reportedly down at a couple of crossings.
