Lexington man charged with rape of 13-year-old

Police have charged a Lexington man with having sex with a 13-year-old at church and at his home.

Rafael Arturo Ardon, 26, was arrested Friday on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree rape.

Ardon held a "position of special trust/authority" over the victim, according to documents filed in Fayette District Court.

Ardon admitted to having sexual contact with the victim at a church and at his apartment, a citation filed by Lexington police states.

He waived formal arraignment during a brief video appearance in district court Monday afternoon, and entered a plea of not guilty through his attorney.

Police declined to name the church involved, saying it is against their policy to do so.

Ardon is due back in court Friday morning.
