Jessamine County: Y-Camps available for ages 5-12

Youth leadership class graduates The first Youth Leadership Jessamine class graduated this month at a ceremony held at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center. The newly organized service organization is an offshoot of the successful Leadership Jessamine County program and is devoted to educating and developing emerging leaders. The group is made up of juniors from local high schools and home schools. The Jessamine County YMCA is offering Y-Camp for ages 5-12 during winter break on Monday, Dec. 26, 27, 30 and Jan. 2 at Warner Elementary School. The cost is $25 a day or $150 for all days.

Children may be dropped off as early as 7:15 a.m. and pick-up needs to be by 6 p.m.

At Y-Camp, children will play gym games, arts and crafts, board games, meet new friends and learn about being caring, honest, respectful and responsible.

A morning and afternoon snack are provided, but children will need to come with a non-refrigerated lunch and drink. Advance registration is required. Call the YMCA at (859) 885-5013.

Library to hold session on choosing a charity

The Jessamine County Public Library Lunch and Learn series will present Informed Giving from noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 19. Attendees will learn how to make smart giving decisions when choosing a charity. The library will provide a festive lunch. Register online at or call (859) 885-3523.
