A Leslie County woman was shot once in each leg and her husband was stabbed in the back just after midnight Thursday at a home on Aces Branch Road, Leslie Deputy Sheriff Sam Mullins said.

Mullins said the couple were taken to Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital, and their injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

He said deputies were searching for at least two people Thursday morning but he wasn't sure whether the attack was a break-in or a result of a domestic dispute.

Mullins would not identify the victims, who live in the Lower McIntosh community. He said the woman is in her late 40s and the man is in his late 50s.
