The case of a man charged with torturing and killing two cats will go to a Fayette County grand jury.

District Judge Julie Muth Goodman sent the case to the grand jury after hearing evidence against the defendant, Li Xu, during a hearing Friday morning.

Li Xu is out on bond. Goodman added terms to his release, saying he is to have no contact with animals while he is free.

Li Xu was arrested at his Woodland Avenue home in early November. Police said he admitted to beating the cats with a metal broomstick because they had urinated on his carpet.
