Billy Joe Johnson

Lexington police have charged a suspect in the robbery last month of a Check Into Cash outlet on New Circle Road.

Billy Joe Johnson, 36, already was in custody Thursday in connection with an unrelated case when police charged him with the Check Into Cash robbery.

Check Into Cash provides short-term cash advances, which customers cover by writing personal checks.

The outlet, at 1555 East New Circle Road, was robbed on Nov. 7, according to police.

Officers charged Johnson with first-degree robbery.

Police said they don't think Johnson is responsible for another robbery on Oct. 29 at the same business.
