A Flemingsburg woman has been charged with child abuse, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Natisha Schlabach, 24, was charged after she called police about a 17-month-old who wasn't breathing, said state police spokesman Joe Veeneman.

Veeneman said Schlabach is the child's foster mother. The child was in serious condition at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, Veeneman said.

The Department for Health and Family Services notified the state police's Morehead post about possible abuse on Tuesday, the release said. After an investigation, Schlabach was arrested Friday night. She is being held in Mason County Detention Center.
