A man found unresponsive in a hot tub at a Ramada Inn in Lexington Monday night drowned, the Fayette County coroner's office said Tuesday.

The coroner's office identified the man as Charles Randall, 52, of Lexington. The cause of death was released after an autopsy Tuesday, according to a statement released by the coroner's office just before noon.

The death was being investigated as an accident, according to the coroner's office.

Lexington Police Lt. Raymond Roller said officers and an ambulance crew were dispatched to the motel just off Winchester Road shortly after someone spotted Randall in the hot tub near the swimming pool about 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Randall was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the coroner's office said.
