An Oklahoma woman is facing charges after leaving her daughter on the side of a Kentucky road, authorities in Laurel County said.

Jeanette A. Oleary, 30, was charged with abandonment, second-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to news release from the Laurel County Sheriff's Department.

The 10-year-old girl told police that she and her mother had an argument while driving on West Laurel Road, 6 miles west of London, before the girl was told to get out of the vehicle. The incident was reported about 6:40 p.m. Monday.

Oleary confirmed the story and told police she left the girl on the road for two minutes, the release said. But witnesses reported that it was more than five minutes and that motorists had to swerve to avoid hitting the child, authorities.

The girl was placed with relatives, and Oleary was being held in the Laurel County Detention Facility.
