Memorial planned for drowning victims

Neighbors who live near the Pottinger Creek crossing where three people drowned in a flash flood Sunday are planning a memorial to the victims there Friday.

Bob Parrett, one of the organizers, said the ceremony will also serve to raise awareness of what he believes is a significant danger.

"It’s something we need to do," he said. "It’s going to honor them, but it will also bring attention to getting that bridge fixed." Parrett said he didn’t know the three victims, who were not from Nelson County.
