In January, the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort and Spa on Newtown Pike in Lexington will begin a $1 million renovation of its lobby and atrium, including a new front desk and porcelain floors in the lobby.

The atrium will be reconfigured, and a new gathering space called the Marriott Greatroom will be added.

The resort's JW's Steakhouse & Bar also is to be revamped as part of a $5 million project that began this year. Guest rooms received new furnishings and carpeting, Tempur-Pedic mattresses and patio furniture. The resort also updated its concierge lounge, its hospitality and presidential suites, and the Elmendorf and Spendthrift meeting rooms.
