A Lexington man who was struck by a vehicle during an altercation Saturday with his sister's boyfriend in Richmond has died, authorities said.

Joshua Childers, 22, was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m. Monday in the intensive care unit at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the Fayette County coroner's office said.

The cause of death was not listed pending autopsy results later this week.

Childers had been in critical condition at UK after he was injured Saturday night outside a home on Evansdale Avenue in Richmond.

Richmond police said Childers got into a scuffle with Jeremy Dean Rice, 21, after Rice allegedly shoved Childers' sister.

Police said Rice got into a vehicle and drove away, allegedly striking Childers.

Rice was arrested later and charged with assault.

Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock said Tuesday that detectives would meet with prosecutors Thursday to determine whether murder charges would be filed against Rice.
