A fire that damaged a duplex early Tuesday in Lexington was intentionally set, according to the city's Division of Fire and Emergency Services.

Battalion Chief Joe Best said fire investigators are asking that anyone with information about the duplex fire on Wilson Avenue contact firefighters immediately.

The blaze was reported about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. It apparently began in an empty unit at the duplex, fire officials said.

No one was injured.

An investigation began immediately, and just before noon, investigators determined that the blaze had been set intentionally, Best said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fire Investigations Bureau at (859) 231-5672.

Jim Warren: (859) 231-3255.
