Snow, cold in forecast

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Wednesday for the Lexington area that was in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.

A mix of light rain and snow overnight was expected to turn into snow, with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches that could affect morning commutes. The forecast called for light to moderate snow through the morning.

Temperatures will drop to about 10 on Thursday night. The high Friday is expected to be in the low 20s, with temperatures in the teens overnight.
