Police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday involving a husband and wife.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said his office was called to a home at 860 Summerville Drive, where they found Elizabeth Blevins, 85, dead. She had been shot, Ginn said. An autopsy will be conducted in Frankfort on Sunday.

Saturday night, John Blevins, 88, was arrested and charged with murder; he was being held in the Fayette County jail.

"It appears Mrs. Blevins' husband, John, is responsible for taking the life of his wife. In talking with the family at the scene, they stated that Mr. John Blevins has been diagnosed with dementia," Ginn said.
