American Association of Equine Practitioners: Dr. Stuart Brown II, a partner in Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, has joined the board of directors.

Lexington Medical Society: The following have been elected officers for 2014: Dr. Rice C. Leach, president-elect; Dr. Richard D. Floyd IV, vice president-elect; Dr. Charles L. Papp, secretary-treasurer-elect. Taking office on Jan. 1 were: Dr. Thomas H. Waid, president; Dr. David S. Kirn, vice president; and Dr. Jason P. Harris, secretary-treasurer.

Public Relations Society of America, Thoroughbred Chapter: The following have been appointed board members and officers for 2014: Brant Welch, Fifth Third Bank, president; Sue Patrick, Council on Postsecondary Education, president-elect; Heather Baber, KCTCS, secretary; Brent Billings, Lexington Legends, treasurer; and directors at large Cliff Feltham, Kentucky Utilities; Tom Harris, University of Kentucky; Tim Hill, Hill Communications; and Kathy Keltner-Previs, Eastern Kentucky University.

McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland: Zachary A. Horn has joined the Frankfort office, practicing in the areas of creditor's rights, banking and general litigation.

Stites & Harbison, PLLC: Seven attorneys have joined the firm, two of them in Lexington. Dustyn B. Jones has joined the Insurance Regulatory Compliance and Health Care Service Groups, and Emily Larish Startsman has joined the Torts & Insurance Practice Service Group.

Thompson Miller & Simpson: Michael J. Bender has joined the firm as an associate. He is practicing in the fields of medical malpractice and products liability defense litigation.

Kentucky U.S. Green Building Council: The following have been elected to two-year terms on the board of directors.

John Clemmons, energy manager, Jessamine County Board of Education; John Goodin, project engineer, Paladin Inc.; Billie Hardin, sustainability project manager, Kentucky Community and Technical College System; Keith Tate, associated director of facilities services - structural Services, Eastern Kentucky University; Britney Thompson, energy engineer, University of Kentucky.

The following have been re-elected to two-year terms on the board: Jeffrey Moneypenny, architect, Luckett and Farley; Bill Sharp, professional engineer and project manager, CMTA Engineers Inc.

The following have been appointed to the board of directors advisory council for one-year terms:

Charles Cash, Jr., Urban 1 LLC; Chris Zitelli, Ecos Materials and Services; Jeff Akin, Harshaw Trane.

Brown-Forman Corp: Alejandro "Alex" Alvarez has been named chief production officer and a member of the company's executive leadership team, effective Feb. 1. Alvarez succeeds Jane Morreau, who has been promoted to chief financial officer.
