Two people killed in Pike County when car collides with coal truck

Two people were killed Thursday in Pike County when their vehicle collided with a coal truck, according to Kentucky State Police.

Crystal Reynolds, 31, of Phyllis was driving north on Ky. 1499 in the Mouthcard community about 3:50 p.m. when her car crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an unloaded tractor-trailer, according to a state police news release.

Reynolds and passenger Tonya Blankenship, 32, of Hensley, W.Va., were pronounced dead at the scene.

Reynolds and Blankenship were not using seat belts, police said.
