Blue Stallion Brewing to distribute to Central Kentucky bars, restaurants

Blue Stallion Brewing's craft beers are about to get a little easier to find: Next month, the Lexington brewery will begin distributing products in Fayette and surrounding counties.

The brewery, which has been open six months, is adding a cooler to store finished beer, allowing it to expand production, co-owner Kore Donnelly said.

"The size of our current cooler is the biggest bottleneck we face with beer production," co-owner Xavier Donnelly said. "We'll no longer have to keep finished beer in the conditioning tanks simply because we don't have room to store the kegs."

Their existing cooler is only large enough to store kegs for the taproom at the brewery on West Third Street.

The new cooler is expected to be finished by the end of January, with about 14 kegs a week ready to go out to local bars and restaurants beginning in February.

"We're ready to start distributing our beer in the marketplace, and we're excited the new cooler will make that happen," Kore Donnelly said. "We started conversations with some local establishments and our distributor, and the demand is there. Once it's finished, we'll be able to meet that demand."

They plan to begin with four of the brewery's most popular beer styles: hefeweizen, German pilsner, helles and Munich dunkel. Seasonal and limited-release beers, such as Blue Stallion's Smoked Lager, also will be available.

The bars and restaurants serving Blue Stallion products will be listed on the brewery's website,
