Marcel White

A Lexington man pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of shaking an infant and threatening officers. Marcel White, 19, appeared in Fayette County District Court for arraignment on charges of resisting arrest, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening and criminal abuse.

Police said they sent officers to the Gainesway Village Apartments on the 1200 block of Centre Parkway early Friday after a woman called saying a man had shaken their 11-week-old child around by the leg during an argument, according to court documents.

White barricaded himself inside an apartment when police arrived and pointed two handguns out the window toward officers; he also threatened to kill his daughter and the officers if they tried to come into the apartment, the police report said.

White eventually surrendered, but police say he fought when they tried to arrest him. He was being held in the Fayette County jail on $15,000 bond. White's next court appearance is Jan. 22.
