What’s open, closed on MLK Jr. Day

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday. Here’s how services in Lexington will be affected:

Government: All city offices are closed. State and federal offices closed.

Courts: State district and circuit courts closed except for emergency protective orders.

U.S. Postal Service: No regular mail delivery, pickup or retail services.

Libraries: Closed. Health department: Closed.

Lextran: Operating on regular schedule.

City garbage: Residents and businesses whose regular collection day is on Monday will receive their collection service on Wednesday. Residents and businesses who normally receive Monday pick-ups should place their Herbies, Rosies and Lennies out after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to assure collection the next day. Lexington Recycling Center, the city’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management facility will be closed.
