Annual MLK march held in downtown Lexington

January 20, 2014

Lexington’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday included some new features.

This year, the Unity breakfast included students from Fayette County Public Schools who acted as hosts, read essays and performed.

Hundreds of people then took to the streets for the traditional march through downtown.

In the afternoon, there was a free showing of "Lee Daniels’ The Butler" at The Kentucky Theatre. The movie, starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, tells the fact-based story of a black butler who served eight presidents in the White House.
