Scott County: Cummins discusses book Saturday at library; register for School House 5K now

January 21, 2014

Terry Cummins will discuss his new book — The Caudills of the Cumberlands, Anne's Story of Life with Harry at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Scott County Public Library in Georgetown. Cummins' book comes 50 years after Harry Caudill, a Kentucky lawyer, professor and author drew national attention to the need for environmental and social reform in Night Comes to the Cumberlands, an expose of poverty and exploitation in Eastern Kentucky.

The memoir illuminates Anne Caudill's marriage and life as the couple pledged to break Eastern Kentucky's chronic cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Health permitting, Anne Caudill will join Cummins at the library.
