One killed, one injured in head-on collision in Laurel County

A head-on crash killed one man and left another with serious injuries in Laurel County Tuesday.

James Edward Poe, 32, of Gray, was driving a Jeep Cherokee west on Ky. 770 about 10 miles south of London when the vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe just after 3 p.m., according to a news release from the Laurel County sheriff’s department.

A passenger in the Cherokee, Robert Poe, 51, of Gray, died on the way to the hospital. James Poe was seriously injured and was taken to Baptist Health Corbin. James Poe was cited for driving on a DUI-suspended license, having no insurance and having no registration plates.

The driver of the Tahoe, Kevin Carroll, 48, of Calvin, did not want to be taken to a hospital.
