Campbellsville woman to compete on 'Survivor'

January 22, 2014

A Campbellsville woman is among the 18 castaways who will compete on the 28th season of Survivor, which pits "brawn versus brains versus beauty."

Jefra Bland, 22 and the 2009 Miss Kentucky Teen USA, is on the "beauty" tribe of Survivor: Cagayan, filmed in a province in the Philippines.

The season's cast also includes a high-stakes poker player; a former NFL cheerleader; a nuclear engineer; David Samson, president of the Miami Marlins baseball team; former NBA all-star Cliff Robinson; and horse trainer LJ McKanas of Boston.

Per usual, the contestants will compete to be named the Sole Survivor and win $1 million.

Survivor: Cagayan will have a special two-hour premiere at 8 p.m. Feb. 26 on CBS.

Bland describes herself as "outspoken, charismatic and fierce" and said her hobbies are "traveling, hunting and pageants." When asked what three things she would bring to the island, she said, "A disposable toothbrush, leather journal for writing and a photo of my family because they are the toughest people I know."
