A Lexington man pleaded not guilty Thursday to manslaughter in the death of his infant daughter.

William Curtis McKenzie, 30, entered the plea in Fayette District Court. He is to be back in court Feb. 27 for a pre-trial conference.

McKenzie is charged in the death of his two-month-old daughter, Ava Grace McKenzie, who was found unresponsive Nov. 9 at a home on Huntsville Drive. She later died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

The child suffocated, according to a coroner's report.

McKenzie admitted wrapping a blanket around the infant's face, according to documents filed in court.
