Rally for education funding called off; new date to be announced

The Our Kids Can't Wait rally for Education Funding, scheduled for Thursday evening at Lexington's Wellington Elementary school, has been cancelled.

Organizers James Wagers and Liza Holland said the decision was made because of icy conditions and cold weather.

A new date will be announced in the next week, they said.

The local grass-roots coalition, which was prompted by the advocacy group Kentucky Education Action Team, wants to hold the rally to encourage lawmakers to restore education funding cuts.
