Lexington police were looking for two men who disappeared after a chase Wednesday night.

One suspect was identified as Karlton Stigall, who was seen driving a stolen car Wednesday night and is wanted on several outstanding warrants, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. She did not identify the other man.

Roberts said the pursuit began about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Maryland Avenue as officers were investigating a report of a stolen car. She said officers spotted Stigall in the missing car near Coolavin Park and gave chase when the vehicle sped away.

Roberts said police soon ended the pursuit because they didn't want to put other motorists at risk.

The car was spotted later near Oliver Lewis Way, and police followed it to Hammond Avenue, where two men jumped out and ran away, she said.

Stigall might be armed, police said.
