21-year-old Cynthiana man dies at UK Hospital after crash

A 21-year-old Cynthiana man was killed and another man critically injured early Friday morning in a one-car crash near Cynthiana.

Joshua Fryman, 21, of Cynthiana, the passenger in the car died from multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.

Dustin Darby, 22, was in critical condition.

Harrison County Sheriff Bruce Hampton said Darby was driving a 2000 Lexus east on Ky. 36 West at 1:30 a.m. when the car went out of control as it crested a hill. The car ran down an embankment, striking a light pole and two fences, Hampton said. The car overturned, ejecting both men. The car caught fire and came to a stop in a nearby cornfield.

Both men wen were taken by helicopter to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana will be handling Fryman's funeral arrangements.

Hampton said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
