What We'll see

February 2, 2014

Sunday

The 13th-ranked University of Kentucky women's basketball team continues its rugged trek through the Southeastern Conference when No. 14 LSU comes to Memorial Coliseum. That's hardly the worst of it. Of the Cats' seven remaining regular-season games after today, four are against top-20 teams: at No. 7 South Carolina, at No. 10 Tennessee, vs. No. 16 Vanderbilt and at No. 17 Texas A&M. (Noon, Fox Sports South)

Sunday

As Denver (six trips, two wins) and Seattle (one trip, zero wins) prepare for Super Bowl XLVIII, there still remain four teams that have never played in a Super Bowl and 14 that have never won one. Try out this trivia at your Super Bowl party. The answers are below. As for the big game, the Broncos are favored by two points. (6:30 p.m., Fox-56)

Tuesday, Saturday

Marshall Henderson and Ole Miss visit Rupp Arena on Tuesday with both teams trying to keep up with first-place Florida in the Southeastern Conference men's basketball race (7 p.m., ESPNU). On Saturday, the Cats head back out on the tough SEC road at Mississippi State (1:30 p.m., WKYT-27).

Wednesday

Coach Mark Stoops has commitments from the 28 guys he wants. Assuming all the signatures come to pass on national signing day, this will mark one of Kentucky's finest recruiting classes ever. Watch Kentucky.com throughout the day for signing day updates and reaction from UK's coaching staff.

Thursday

Had enough winter? Here's a sure sign spring can't be far away: The 12th-ranked University of Kentucky softball team opens its 2014 season. The Cats take on Santa Clara in the Mizuno Invitational at Long Beach, Calif. (Noon)

Thursday/Friday

Let the Games begin! The Winter Olympics get started in Sochi, Russia, which is nine hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Standard Time. There are two ways to go about this: Cluelessly (blissfully?) watch wherever, whenever you can with no care for when the event actually takes place. Or, accurately (stressfully?) stay on top of the daily schedule, noting what's taped and what's live and tweet all the results (snarkily?) before most of the world sees them. Events begin on Thursday, but the opening ceremony is Friday (8 p.m. in Sochi, 11 a.m. in Kentucky, and delayed at 7:30 p.m. on NBC). For the first time at a Winter Games, every event — with the exception of the opening ceremony — will be available live online at NBCOlympics.com and through the NBC Sports Live Extra mobile app. TV networks showing the Olympics include NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, NBCSN, USA.
