Chris Bailey's Sunday forecast: Area avoided large snow totals, but ice possible Tuesday

Herald-Leader Staff ReportFebruary 2, 2014

Sleet and ice lasted much longer than expected in Central Kentucky's latest winter blast, reducing the snow totals for many, according to meteorologist Chris Bailey.

Although the area avoided the 10 inches once feared, there was enough snow to close Fayette and many other school districts. In addition, roads were covered and hazardous.

Several spots will receive more than 5 inches of snow, Bailey said.

The next system rolls in Tuesday into Wednesday and could bring significant ice.
