The bodies of a father and his son were found Thursday afternoon in Letcher County, according to state police.

Carlos Adams, 70, and Tracy Adams, 34, both of Jeremiah, were found in an embankment underneath an all-terrain vehicle on Arthurs Loop Road, off Blair Branch Road. The ATV had apparently traveled off a dirt road and overturned in the embankment, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard.

Carlos was found with his leg trapped between the ATV and a tree, and Tracy was found underneath. Both men were pronounced dead by the Letcher County Coroner's Office, the release said. Investigators had not determined who was driving.

State police spokesman Jody Sims said the men had not been reported missing and lived separately from other relatives. He said it appeared that the men had been there for several days. The investigation is continuing.

The bodies were to be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort for autopsies.
