High school basketball roundup: Madison Central boys defeat No. 5 Holmes on 3 at buzzer

Kirkland Humphrey hit a 35-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to give Madison Central an 81-80 victory at home over Holmes, fifth in Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State. Humphrey finished with 17 points for the Indians (17-7), and James “Beetle” Bolden had 36 for the Bulldogs (19-4). Girls’ highlights:

• Lexington Catholic’s game against Menifee County was tied 17-all after one quarter, but the Lady Knights outscored the visiting Lady Cats 26-2 in the second and went on to a 75-39 victory at home. Suzanne Miller scored a team-high 15 points for Lexington Catholic, and Bailey Browning had eight assists and four steals.

• Devin Conley hit six three-pointers and finished with 25 points in No. 19 Boyle County’s 69-59 win at Lexington Christian. Dee Foster had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Rebels. Katelin Bundy led the Lady Eagles with 24 points, and Holly Huellemeier had 15 points, 18 rebounds and three assists.

• Shakeema Jackson scored 26 points, including the 1,000th of her career, in No. 19 Paul Dunbar’s 65-45 victory at Ryle. Brooke Todd added 12 points and 17 rebounds.

• Sayre got double-doubles from both Gabby Bowie and Molly Manella in a 61-47 victory against visiting Robertson County. Bowie had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, and Manella had 17 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Kaela Saner led the Lady Devils with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

• Erin Boley scored a career-high 35 points to go with six rebounds in No. 2 Elizabethtown’s 73-46 win at John Hardin.
