The man who was fatally shot inside a car Sunday afternoon on Lima Drive was Vincenzo Happy, the Fayette County Coroner's office said Monday.

Happy, 23, of Fayette County, was pronounced dead just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the coroner's office said.

Lexington police said they received a call Sunday reporting that as many as a dozen shots had been fired near several businesses in a small shopping center off Lima Drive.

Officers found Happy after being told that someone in a car had been shot. The car had run into a pile of snow, they said.

Several shots hit the car, according to police.

Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Monday that it was unclear whether the car ran into the snowbank before or after the shooting.

"We do have some information in the case, but nothing that we are prepared to release," Roberts said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked call police at (859) 258-3600, she said.

Jim Warren (859) 231-3255.
